Honda Civic 94 Axle Boot Cv joint?
I have a 94 Honda Civic Ex Two door coupe with the two front axle outer boots torn, I dont have any problems stearing or any major ticking or clicking from the CV joints, is it possible to just snap on a new boot kit since it seems the joints are good. Or atleast get a snap on boot kit and see how that works before getting both axles replaced. And what is the usual cost of two axles with full labor if anyone can answer any of this would be greatly appreciated
Fortunately both are feasible options for you right now. I would recommend getting two new axles (rebuilt is fine) if you are going to keep this car for a while, let's say 2+ years. That way you are taking no risk, most rebuilt axles will have years of warranty or even lifetime sometimes. So this is the safe route to go for an extra $100 per axle.
On the other hand, if you are confident that you caught the boots shortly after they were torn (within days or weeks), then you are in good shape. If money is an issue, and you will not hold on to this car past a year or two, it is worth giving this a shot in my opinion. However, if you do not know when the boots were torn, that will leave you with one option only. That is to change the axle.
