Deep Socket
If a telly has HDMI sockets in its spec does that mean it can handle Deep Colour?
The Toshiba 46ZF355d has 3 HDMI sockets according to the Toshiba site.
And the 46XF355D has three HDMI deep colour sockets specified.
I understand that the Toshiba 46ZF355d is a newer model than the 46XF355D so it is strange it doesn't have deep colour.
p.s. or maybe if the HDMI sockets are specified as HDMI v1.3 then one could assume they could handle Deep Colour?

HDMI 1.3 and higher MAY (optionally) support deep colour (it's an optional part of the spec so you need to get an explicit statement re conformity) ... but since nothing has support for supplying it yet it's not a big deal. Even Blu-ray is only 8-bit colour, so other than (maybe) games there won't be any commercial deep colour programming for at least several years.
